"I am extremely dissatisfied with State Farm as my homeowners insurance provider. I had damage to my roof, and State Farm is refusing to help get it replaced. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. We provided them with all key facts and documentation, and they still refuse to help: 1. Repairability:The first repair done before us was clearly a failure, which was obvious to us. When we did our repair, you can literally see a black circle of major granule loss around it. Yet State Farm said, "looks good to us." It's a failed repair to everyone else but State Farm. This has happened twice now. 2. Shingle Mismatch:TEL analysis confirmed that the shingles are different. The AR (algae resistant) shingles are a bit thicker. According to the "Ohio Unfair Property Claims Settlement Act," shingles must be of like quality, size, and match. The new shingles will not match because one had algae resistance, and the shingles on my roof are 20-25 years old. 3.Communication Issues:We practically begged them to look at videos. We even sent a shorter one that’s a summary of our second repair. We couldn't get a hold of anyone to have a simple conversation for a long time. 4. Property Devaluation: My house is now devalued more. We had leaks and just wanted to protect our property with the first repair. The aesthetic look of our home is very disappointing because the value is down significantly. Despite paying a multi-million dollar insurance premium, they can't cover a very small roof. If we went to sell, we would lose quite a bit of money. Additionally, State Farm has failed to adhere to the following regulations: (a) When a loss requires replacement of an item or part, any consequential physical damages incurred in making such repair or replacement not otherwise excluded by the policy, shall be included in the loss. (b) When an interior or exterior loss requires replacement of an item and the replaced item does not match the quality, color, or size of the item suffering the loss, the insurer shall replace as much of the item as to result in a reasonably comparable appearance. We have Ebbie Radcliff and Jasmine Johnson, who do not live in Ohio, making decisions about our roof from behind a desk. They refused to look at any of the videos my contractors provided or respond to me. When I contacted my local agency, I sometimes received a response from a claim member. As I stated before, I would NEVER IN LIFE RECOMMEND STATE FARM. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, especially if you need home insurance. It may be cheaper on the front end, but if you need them for something, it will be hell because they will give you the biggest run-around instead of doing what’s right for their customer."
